My Electric Bicycle

Are you contemplating buying an electric bike? This has many advantages for you: You save money on petrol, stay fit and lose a few pounds and you meet some interesting people on your ride to work.

Now the electric bicycle has evolved to such a degree that you can drive a long distance of around sixty kilometers or more before recharging your battery.

The good thing about the electric bicycle above is, that is has a handle on the right side, that you can turn to adjust the power level while driving. (See image below)

The advantage of that is, that you don't need to have a computer on the left side to do this. It is a bad thing having a computer, because if it is raining the rain water can go into the computer and ruins it. This has happened to me and I had to return the bicycle and bought another one without a computer, but with the power-handle instead.

A bicycle computer has another disadvantage. When you want to change the power level of the battery, you have to look at the computer and use your brain to figure out which button to press to select up to 12 different levels! This will distract you from driving, as you are not looking at the road, while fiddling around with the computer. One day this will cause an accident for sure.

In my opinion it is outright dangerous to put a computer on a electric bicycle. And almost all of them have one. You can be lucky if you find a bicycle that has a power handle instead, that you can turn, while watching the traffic on the road.
