Bicycle Safety Lights - Improve Your Safety with Bicycle Lights
Bicycle Safety Lights are often powered by batteries, sometimes rechargeable batteries. I personally don't like bicycle lights with batteries because if they are empty, I have to buy new ones or I can't use the bike at night. Buying batteries is the last thing I want as this is too much of a hassle for me. I don't like to worry about this.
I prefer bicycle lights that are powered by dynamo that is build into the front wheel, or lights powered by solar energy. A dynamo has unlimited duration, but power output is relatively low. So what?
In Germany, it is illegal to use bicycles without a dynamo-based lighting system but this has driven forward the development of high quality dynamos.
More expensive, but brighter are halogen lamps but you need a powerful battery.
But nowadays high efficiency LED headlights are the way to go.
They are already implemented in my own new electric bike and are powered by a dynamo that is build into the front wheel. See image below
